MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

From a community standpoint I am a co-founder and chairman of People Incorporated TCI and Turks and Caicos Association for People with Disabilities, all non-profit organizations created in 2007 to bring awareness to mental health, mental illness and people living with disabilities in the Turks and Caicos. Our main focus was mental health education, advocating for services and equal human rights for people with a mental illness and disabilities. I also have great concern as it relates to social problems and crime in our country and will love to be able to use my skills and knowledge to help and aiding the serious crimes such as gun violence and murder in the TCI.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT george

" An honest, loyal and respectful person who cares about people. Someone who is fair and sometimes have unconditional fait in his people. " - Clifford Hamilton

"A man who can fit anywhere. He doesn't discriminate, regardless of race, ethnicity, social economic accomplishment." -Anthony Gardiner

In 1998 I decided to take a chance at self employment, going into a business I had worked in from the age of twelve. I resigned and stated working at Quality Cuts Barber Shop as a barber and in 1999 I open Pratt’s Barber Shop and Beauty Salon. Over the next few years I work as a barber, and manage the business.

In January 2004 I left for college and university and started at Fulton Montgomery Community college in Johnstown New York USA and transferred to the University At Buffalo, Buffalo New York USA in August 2005. In May 2007 I graduated with a double Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Sociology.

In June I returned to these beautiful islands seeking employment and started working with the Turks and Caicos Islands Government Department of Education as an Educational Psychologist.

In July 2015 left for Manchester England UK where I did training in Autism Spectrum Disorder and Special Educational Needs. I obtain a certificate, however my dream is to continue to work on my academic success and one day obtain a PhD in Special Educational Needs.

Working in the Department of Education provided me the opportunity to execute my new acquired knowledge. I had the opportunity to work with student’s teachers and parents to help aid behavioral problem, identify learning disabilities, developmental disabilities and syndromes. I also assisted in providing teaching techniques and how it can be applied to the learning difference in schools but most importantly our special education sector.

I have always loved the service industry and this was one of the main reasons I decided to study psychology and sociology. Having a degree in these disciplines provides me with a bulk of knowledge and experience as it related to understanding, working with and helping people.

My favorite area in psychology is educational psychology, which cover psychological principles and research relevant to educational practice, human growth and development, the learning process, educational measurement, individual differences, and mental health in the schools.

In sociology, my favorite areas are the family, community development and cultural studies. Sociology being the study of characteristics, causes, changes, and consequences of human behavior in social groups, I am concerned with issues of great concern to society such as crime, delinquency, and deviance; health and well-being; and social inequality. My training in this area of study allows me to evaluate the effects of gender, ethnic background, social class, religion, community, and family structure on both individuals and groups of people.

Both areas of study provides me with research skills to do statistical research, analyze problems and communicate the relevant findings. Using such strategies as a country, we could objectively work toward a better understanding of the structure and dynamics of a wide range of social systems, including formal and informal groups, organizations and institutions.

From a community standpoint I am a co-founder and chairman of People Incorporated TCI and Turks and Caicos Association for People with Disabilities, all non-profit organizations created in 2007 to bring awareness to mental health, mental illness and people living with disabilities in the Turks and Caicos. I also have great concern as it relates to social problems and crime in our country and will love to be able to use my skills and knowledge to help and aiding the serious crimes such as gun violence and murder in the TCI.

When elected as the MP for ED#6 The Bight, it is my desire to do a cleanup and beautification program of this district by way of a three way approach. That is forging a healthy relationship with government, the investors in our community and most importantly the residence. My goal is to clean it and keep it clean while keeping this district crime free. In addition I will work to completing a community center and multifunctional fitness and sporting facility which will include training programs for the residence but (most importantly the youths) of ED # 6 and those that comes to visit us.

My number one dream and top priority on day one, is to bring about small and large business opportunities for the residences of the district. We are the tourist capital of the TCI we have given all our beautiful beach front properties to better the entire TCI, and its time we get our return on our investment. Locally own business and good job opportunities will provide families the economic success, educational success and wellbeing to be better citizens of this country.
